PortaCut

PortaCut is a semi-automatic gas cutting machine. Machine can cut using Oxygen + Acetylene or Oxygen + Propane / BMCG* gases. This is a compact motor driven gas cutting machine, which can be used for cutting straight, bevel as well as circle cutting. A steel track is used to provide stable motion to the machine. Two or more tracks can be combined through dove-tail joints for longer cuts. Two torches can be used for strip cutting applications.

We at Messer Cutting Systems are always striving to increase the safety of our products and to make the operation of our torches safer for their users. For this purpose, our experts have developed the complete S.A.T. system, consisting of S.A.T. valve and S.A.T. hand cutting torches.

The longer the hose, the more susceptible it is to damage, whether it is damage from flying sparks, sharp-edged objects or other hazards in the workplace. With a conventional torch system, these leaks on the hose usually go unnoticed because the working behaviour with the torch does not change and the user therefore has no indicator of a leak.

The system solves this problem by extinguishing the flame on the torch if the hose line is damaged. In addition, the gas supply is automatically stopped after the S.A.T. valve. Furthermore, the S.A.T. system eliminates the need to adjust the flame.

Thus, the S.A.T. system not only provides a significant plus in safety at the workplace, but also saves you time and provides more comfort when adjusting the flame.

Cutting Processes
Laser Cutting

Laser cutting is the royal class among cutting processes for the metalworking industry. No other process is more precise or fine than a laser cutting machine.

With our laser cutting machines you can cut plates as accurately as technically possible, and that with an excellent power density. This is possible through a very narrow cutting kerf and low heat input into the material. Thus our laser cutting machines can cut very fine geometries in a plate without much loss of material. This means you get shapes with precise cut edges and operate as energy and material efficient as possible.

AREA OF APPLICATION
Laser cutting machines are used in many branches of the metalworking industry, from heavy industry to shipbuilding. Whether for small batches or mass production: laser cutting is efficient both in energy and material use and is suitable for a multitude of metal components. With our laser cutting machines you can cut or engrave Stainless Steels, Mild Steel or ever Aluminium into any conceivable shape.

Laser cutting is ideal for plate thicknesses up to 30 mm, or even more under certain circumstances. For thicker plates plasma or oxyfuel cutting machines are more suitable. For this you can also combine processes for maximum flexibility with many of our machines.

Plasma Cutting

Plasma cutting was originally developed for the thermal cutting of materials which were unsuitable for flame cutting, such as high alloy steels or Aluminum. Today, the process is also used for the economical cutting of thin, low alloyed steels.

- Typical: 3 mm up to 75 mm

Cutting Processes
Oxyfuel Cutting

Oxyfuel cutting is a combustion process using oxygen/fuel gas flame. The heating flame brings the material up to its ignition temperature. Then a jet of Oxygen at least 99,5 % pure is blown onto the heated spot. The Oxygen jet oxidizes the metal. The torch is moved and a narrow cutting kerf is created, removing the slag from the kerf. The quality of the cut depends on the surface condition of the material, cut-velocity and thickness.

All low alloy steel with a material thickness up to several decimeters can be cut with this process. Despite the increasing significance of the other cutting processes such as plasma and laser cutting, oxyfuel flame cutting is still a very economical process. For heavy material thicknesses up to 1200 mm there is no alternative to flame cutting.

Machine flame cutting ensures reliable hole-piercing, good cutting quality and allows the production of components to their finished sizes without the need for further processing. For weld seam preparations V, Y and K cuts can be produced.
